"So, Stairway to Heaven or Sweet home Alabama? "
WHATEVER man. Play whatever.
" Hey babe, do you think I should paint my nails purple or black? "
WHATEVER baby. You'll look great either way.
" Giselle! Would you like fish fingers or chicken pot roast? "
WHATEVER will do.
"... I slog all day and I don't even recieve a 'Hi mum, you're home' "
WHATEVER, MUM.
" You know man, you've been acting like a real dick lately"
WHATEVER.
I think it matters have an opinion.
I think it matters to give a definite or an unsure answer to someone's question, instead of a carelessly vague 'Whatever'. When she asks you about what colour looks better, tell her what you think. If you hate both the options, tell her that too. If you think the purple reminds you of the time you first went second base on her, tell her that. She'll wear purple baby.
If your mum asks you about food, tell her. She's offering you options because she wants to know which of it you'll like the best, because there is nothing, but pure love there. Nothing.
When someone asks you to make a choice between two songs, cherish that person, because honestly, how often do you get someone asking you to pick a song instead of them playing their playlist over and over, so you get why they like it so much?
When someone is angry and hurt and shouting, please, listen. Never cut them off with a WHATEVER. They have chosen to speak with you instead of ignoring you, bitching about you or throwing shit at you. Would you rather be treated with silence?
Sure, this may come of as a 'rant' to some, but it's just my way of telling you that it matters to care. It matters to have an opinion. It matters to give a shit. Because when you say whatever, it is like the whole universe has lost its colour and you're so blatantly numb to every thing, that you don't feel anything anymore.
So the next time, you're asked whether you want a doughnut or a cupcake. Kiss him. And then go ' BOTH'

ReplyDeleteLovely message! Agreed. Kinda reminds me to be more decisive and caring. Thanks for the reminder. I guess we say whatever when we find it hard to say what we want to or think it won't matter, either to them or us. But I guess we need to try to do less of that and appreciate someone giving us options and not taking it for granted. :)
